Nameless Longings

Hark! Who goest there?

To and fro within my heart,

Whispering, yet want to share

With me

Your mysteries.

Hail! You who burneth me!

With trails of nameless longings,

Show now this anxious soul

A glimpse

Of what you mean.

Alas, you who escapeth me!

Too slow my sorry senses

But do not stop I pray thee,

Thy task

Within my being.

Please, oh You, my secret friend

Traverse these barren fields,

Plummet depths and caverns find,

The ones

That are lost to me.

If hear this, you who woundeth me,

My shallow waters deepen,

And to my inmost person say,

Nothing

But your name.

Now onward you insatiable one,

Venture ever farther

To break the rock of stony flesh

And freedom

Render there!
